TranCE Organizing Committee

Lamisa Mizan

Lamisa is a PhD student in Dr. Ramalho-Santos’ at the Lunenfeld-Tanenbaum Research Institute located in Toronto. Her project investigates the relationship between LINE-1 RNA and Nucleolin during early human embryonic development. Lamisa is passionate about studying roles of non-coding RNA in chromatin organization, and is excited to join the TranCE organization committee to help facilitate discussions and collaborations amongst groups interested in similar topics.

Sameen Ahmed
sameen_2-300x300-1

Sameen is a PhD Candidate in the Department of Molecular Genetics at the University of Toronto in Dr. Philipp Maass’ lab. She is currently exploring the role of long non-coding RNAs in gene regulation and genome organization during human chondrogenesis. Through organizing this seminar, Sameen is excited to learn all about the cool transcription, chromatin, and epigenetics research being done across labs in Toronto.

Shahir morcos

Shahir Morcos is a PhD candidate in Dr. Eric Campos’s lab at Peter Gilgan Centre for Research and Learning located in Toronto. He did his undergraduate studies at York University. He is currently working on a de novo set of histone H3.3 mutations and he is interested in understanding the effects of these mutations on the H3.3 interactome.

BRANDON CHO

Brandon Cho is PhD student in the Ramalho-Santos Lab at the Lunenfeld-Tanenbaum Research Institute. Born and raised in Vancouver, Brandon received his BSc from the University of British Columbia. He is currently investigating the role of the chromatin remodeller Chd1 during hypertranscription in the context of both embryonic development and cancer.
